Sam has finally realised how long it had been since the last time he took me out for dinner. Last night we went to Water Rat Hotel in South Melbourne.
It has been almost 4 months since I've torn the ACL on my right knee, it is now time to get this fix once and for all. Hoping to have a speedy recovery so that I don't miss out on all the Christmas & New Years holiday fun!!
I am now all ready for the surgery... can't wait to blog about it... it's sick, I know :p
1. My laptop - check!
2. My hospital overnight gear - check!
3. My clothes and belongings for staying at my inlaws place after discharge from hospital - check!
Sometime you got to think that the mandatory voting system adopted by Australia isn't quite that bad. I mean, which one is worse? Having someone to force you to make a decision? Or letting the same bunch of idiots to run the country again simply because you don't care?
These day the only special fried rice you can trust are those made by your mum, unless crunchy fried rice is your thing.
My favorite dessert is 燉蛋 & 燉奶 and I always wanted to know how to make it myself...
Not much on the Olympics channels tonight (Ch 7 showing for the 20th repeated times coverage of Leisel Jones's gold medal moments & SBS showing women's football games)... I've read all the H.K entertainment news from Apple Daily, "Next" magazine and replied to all responses from both Vox & Facebook... what next?? A thought popped into my mind... how about try making 燉蛋?? I have eggs, sugar and milk... should be enough ingredients for making it, I thought. So... I've browse through a couple of recipes online, start making it and this is how it turns out :
As part of the celebration of the 29th Olympic Games, Telstra has set up a giant snowball at the Southbank, just outside the casino. I first saw it last Friday and it was a big glowing white ball and I had no idea what it was there for. It finally showed its true purpose on the weekend and it turned out to be a spherical projector screen that shows a lots of Telstra and Samsung TV commercials and a little bit of Olympic highlights occasionally. You can even go inside the globe and see how the whole thing work. Sometime it just shows soothing water bubbles with some abstract lighting, completed with bubble sound. I think it is most beautiful when it does that.
Only if I was a millionaire
that I can enjoy a meal like this everyday…. well… maybe not everyday… maybe
once a month :)
I have a girl’s day out
today with some high school friends… and came to this place… at Bulleen
This restaurant provides modern fusion dishes and have chain restaurant in both Taiwan & Singapore.
No Al La Carte option, only set lunch or dinner ($38 & $48 per head) offer at this eatery. It is indeed very expensive to
have lunch for $38 per head but I have to admit the quality of food is great,
presentation of food is lovely and services not bad too…
For $38, I’ve chosen the
following:
4. A shot glass of pineapple sorbet (too small to be photographed).
And guess what?? If you mention that it is your birthday today, they will sing you a birthday song and give you a little gift also… the gift is the teapot above, a nice gesture I think… :)
All in all, lunch is enjoyable and I would love to come back with Samuel and friends next time.
Just watched the latest X-File movie. To be honest, I didn't expect too much from the middle-aged on-screen couple after so many years, especially they are not even FBI agents anymore. I wouldn't even think about watching it in cinema if we didn't have two free tickets.
The movie was more like a above-average-budget Law and Order episode than anything else. It didn't have enough supernatural, "unexplained", "X-File" theme in it. The case was broken only because of Mulder's phenomenal attention to details. If there is any surprise (to me, anyway), it was the relationship between Scully and Mulder.
There was really nothing to "believe" in the movie, even if I wanted to.
Tonight we tried a new steamboat restaurant in North Melbourne. This place is not as cheap as other steamboat restaurant we used to go to but this place is much tidier and the service is much better. Unlike the previous places we went to, the waiters of this restaurant actually bring us what we ordered (although we had to remind them a few times). The food is fresh and high quality. I think it is perfect if you have a small group of people and you want to have steamboat but couldn't bother with shopping, washing, chopping, eating and cleaning.
